Dear Parents and Students:

I hope this letter finds you and your families safe and well during these unsettling times. On behalf of the staff at Aiton Elementary School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2021-2022 School Year!   We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential.  As we return to the school building, partnering with families will be crucial this year as we face the continued challenges and obstacles due to this pandemic. We appreciate your support throughout this process and look forward to working with you throughout the school year.

To practice safety, minimizing interactions over the course of the school day, as well as increasing our cleaning efforts are at the top of our list. To begin, we will implement the following actions: Increased deep cleaning practices will take place on a daily basis; hand sanitizing stations are placed at various locations throughout the school building; bottled water will be provided on a daily basis; and students with a temperature will be isolated and sent home.

Important Notes:  

School Begins- August 30th for K-5 and September 2nd for PreK students

  • Student Arrival/Breakfast: 8:30 (for All students)
  • Instructional Day- 8:45-3:15 all students must be picked up no later than 3:30
  • Parents are only allowed in the building by appointment
  • Building Entry- PreK-K will enter through the front door on 48th PL
  • Building Entry- 1st-5th grades will enter on 49th Street and line up on the playground
  • Aftercare begins on September 7th from 3:30-6:00 pm (please note: you must apply online at
  • Virtual Back to School Night - Thursday, September 16, 2021. Save the date.
  • Childhood immunizations must be up to date for all students
  • All students will be required to wear a face mask; If they don’t have one, one can be provided at the door upon entry
  • Students in PreK and Kindergarten will eat in their classrooms for breakfast and lunch
  • Students in grades 1-5 will participate in grab and go breakfast to eliminate students congregating in one place for a long period of time
  • All parents will be asked to complete an “Ask Ask Look” form prior to student entry. This form will ensure that your child is not sick prior to coming into the school building

  •  COVID Testing Updates

  • A random sampling of asymptomatic students will be tested each week
  • Parents must give consent for testing
  • A consent form will be provided to your child on their first day of school and can be returned to the security desk and a copy will be returned with your child at the end of the school day

With your assistance, we will push forward to uphold a learning environment that meets the needs of all of our students.  Academic excellence and growth is what we aim to achieve!  We look forward to seeing all of our students and working with you as well!
